2019 New Year Resolutions

I know that the wave of hearing everyone’s resolutions has already passed, but I’m half Vietnamese and my new year doesn’t “actually” start until Lunar New Year! Haha. With that being said, I wanted to put my resolutions out there not just to share them with you all, but for me to look back at them and hold myself accountable to actually execute them.

1. Continue living a healthy lifestyle.

In 2018, I had a goal to get stronger and achieve a sort of “body” goal. I recently tracked my progress and I’m liking what I see! I just want to keep it up but also take it more seriously. I want to try to track what kind of foods I eat yet still eat all the yummy foods I love. I’m also going to be traveling a lot more this year so I want to still stay active even away from home.

2. Blog more!

I’m very proud of myself for starting this site December of 2017! I admit I could be more consistent but I found myself in a struggle to create content that is unique to me and my lifestyle. I just like too many things and I don’t know what to focus on first. I also want to turn this site into a sort of portfolio as I continue to make more advancements towards my career. Be on the lookout for that!

3. Make more environmentally friendly choices.

This is something you all should join with me on. Our world is deteriorating and before you know it, it could disappear right before our eyes. I already do things that are environmentally conscious like using a reusable water bottle, metal straws, and using natural cleaning products. I recently learned that plastic bags aren’t recycled everywhere and you oftentimes have to drop it off at a recycling location. I am definitely going to try to incorporate dropping off my plastic waste at least once a month rather than throwing it in the garbage can.

4. Start a dream journal.

I’ve actually already started this one but I hope I keep it up. I’m a very vivid dreamer with strong intuition. I think writing down your dreams is fun to look back on even if you think your dreams don’t make any sense. You might look back in this journal and see that some of your dreams really are coming true. This ties into a part of my spiritual beliefs that I could go on and on about–but basically, I want to keep this journal up and actually wake up to write down my dreams instead of sleeping more, LOL.

5. Take more time for self-care and reflection.

I’m a very busy gal and I don’t rest enough. To be completely honest, I don’t prefer to rest. However, I know that I should. I’m one of those people where if I’m doing nothing, I freak out. I should start treating self-care time as a mandatory meeting. I imagine that every week, I’m doing a face mask and journaling. Self-care is so important!

6. Sign up for more scholarships.

This is more of a school-related goal. Like every college student, we are tight on money. I want to try to apply for a different scholarship at least once a month so that I could help my mom pay for tuition and other expenses. The hard part about this is making the time to do so when I already have school work on my plate. Some of the scholarship websites that I enjoy are Scholly and Fastweb. Have I won a scholarship through these yet? No. However, applying gives you a chance rather than no chance at all. Don’t lose hope!

These are some of my more harder, concrete goals that I have a game plan to achieve every single one of them. Of course, I have ongoing goals like getting good grades, continuing to be involved at school to gain career experience, and keeping in touch with friends from back home. As of right now, 2019 is going to be a fun-filled year. I have so many exciting things coming and I can’t wait to share them with you all. Let me know what your 2019 resolutions are and how exactly you aim to achieve them!
